Japanese millet is a warm-season annual grass well suited for waterfowl habitat, wildlife food plots, and summer cover cropping. It tolerates moist and wet soils better than most millets, making it an excellent choice for low-lying areas and pond edges. Plant after soil temperatures reach 65°F. Seed heads mature in 60-90 days and provide high-energy grain for ducks, doves, quail, and other wildlife. Can be managed by flooding after maturity to attract waterfowl during migration.
